Many organizations are working to promote health care quality and health plan accountability. Here is a list of some other websites that you may find interesting.

Employer and Consumer Information Sites:

Employer Quality Partnership (http://www.eqp.org/): A website for those who want to understand how to navigate the healthcare system, including many useful resources on selecting health care plans for the value they provide.

AARP
(http://www.aarp.org/): The AARP website provides useful information about legislative initiatives and medical/pharmaceutical coverage for people over 50.

Families USA
(http://www.familiesusa.org/): Families USA is a national non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the achievement of high-quality, affordable health and long-term care for all Americans. Working at the national, state and community levels, they have earned a national reputation as an effective voice for health care consumers.

Medicare Rights Center (http://www.medicarerights.org/): This is a national, non-profit organization exclusively devoted to ensuring that seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare have access to high-quality, affordable health care.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (http://www.nami.org/): NAMI focuses on support to persons with serious brain disorders, advocacy for equitable and nondiscriminatory policy towards such individuals and research into the causes, symptoms and treatment of brain disorders.

National Partnership for Women and Families (http://www.nationalpartnership.org/): The National Partnership is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that uses public education and advocacy to promote fairness in the workplace, quality health care, and policies that help people meet the dual demands of work and family.

National Association of Insurance Commissioners (http://www.naic.org/): This site includes links to the Insurance Commission websites of many different states, with valuable tips on dealing with managed care organizations, grievance procedures and state health care law.

National Committee on Quality Assurance (http://www.ncqa.org/): The NCQA is a leading organization in the accreditation and quality measurement of healthcare organizations. Their website contains "The State of Managed Care Quality," an annual report on overall and regional healthcare quality.

Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(http://www.jcaho.org/): The Joint Commission provides accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in hospitals, healthcare networks, nursing homes and home care organizations. Their website provides a "Quality Check"on thousands of healthcare delivery organizations.

Massachusetts Healthcare Purchaser Group (http://www.mhpg.org/): The MHPG is a private coalition of 55 public and private healthcare purchasers representing over 2 million Massachusetts residents. Their site provides information about the cost and quality of Massachusetts managed care plans.

Massachusetts Health Data Consortium (http://www.mahealthdata.org/): The MHDC sponsors collaborative projects among New England healthcare organizations and provides data products and research to the New England healthcare community.

Massachusetts Health Quality Partnership (http://www.mhqp.org/): This is a coalition of healthcare providers, health plans and purchasers that collaborate on quality improvement initiatives such as maternity care, prevention guidelines and cardiac care.

Pacific Business Group on Health (http://www.healthscope.org/): The Pacific Business Group on Health is one of the most active employer coalitions in the U.S., representing over 3 million covered lives and $3.5 billion in annual premiums. Their website helps consumers make better choices about their health plan coverage.

Consumer Coalition for Quality Health Care (http://www.consumers.org/): The Consumer Coalition is a national, non-profit organization of consumer groups dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of health care for all Americans.

Midwest Business Group on Health (http://www.mbgh.org/): The MBGH is a Chicago-based, non-profit coalition with over 100 members in eleven states that provides leadership and knowledge to employers to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of healthcare services.

Foundation for Accountability (http://www.facct.org/): FACCT provides information for consumers to understand and use health plan quality data, and develops consumer-focused quality measures.

Economic and Social Research Institute (http://www.esresearch.org/): ESRI is a non-profit, non-partisan institute conducting research directed at improving the way healthcare services are organized and delivered and making quality healthcare accessible and affordable.
