Accomplishments
Issued the first managed care performance profile comparing HEDIS data from health plans in the same geographic region (1994) – produced subsequent reports in 1995 and 1996 before turning over the data distribution effort to NCQA. Collaborated on the first collective audit of regional health plan HEDIS data (1996) performed by Price Waterhouse Coopers according to specifications developed by NCQA and the New England HEDIS Coalition – a year in advance of the introduction of NCQA’s audit tool – and the continuing audit process is now in its fourth year. The annual audit reviews health plan information systems, data integrity and data collection processes to ensure that reported performance measures are credible and comparable. Piloted NCQA’s Annual Member Health Care Survey (1996), resulting in comparable member satisfaction data across health plans – the annual survey is now in its sixth year.
